Home care at the gateway to the Wye valley
Chepstow is an old border town where the Wye meets the Severn, with a great Norman castle on the cliff above the river and the town walls still standing. Families searching for home care in Chepstow are supporting parents in the town centre and up the Bridge Street hill, in Bulwark and Thornwell, in Garden City and Hardwick, in Pwllmeyric, Mathern and St Arvans, and across the Wye in Tutshill and Sedbury in England. Many streets are steep. A carer who lives in helps your relative stay safe and keep getting out.
We also arrange care in Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Newport, Cwmbran, Abergavenny and Bristol.

The Grange, the Royal Gwent and Chepstow Hospital
Serious emergencies from Chepstow go to the Grange University Hospital near Cwmbran, run by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, with other care at the Royal Gwent in Newport, while Chepstow Community Hospital provides rehabilitation beds and clinics. A live-in carer in Chepstow arranged before discharge means your relative comes home to support.
Monmouthshire, or Gloucestershire over the Wye
Chepstow is in Wales, and adult social care is provided by Monmouthshire County Council, with the Welsh weekly limit on home care charges. Tutshill and Sedbury, across the Wye, are in England, where Gloucestershire County Council runs care under English rules, so check which covers your relative's address. Either carries out free needs assessments.
The castle, the racecourse and Tintern
Chepstow Castle above the river, race days at Chepstow racecourse, the museum and a drive up the Wye valley to Tintern Abbey are favourite outings, and the Offa's Dyke path begins nearby. Many older people here worked at the shipyard, the bridge-building works or commuted to Bristol and Newport. If your relative prefers Welsh, tell us when we match. You choose your carer from matched profiles before anything is agreed.

Funding & regulation
Paying for care in Wales
Home care is regulated and funded differently in each nation, so the route is not the same everywhere. Here is how it works where you live.
Read our full funding guide →Who regulates care here
Home care in Wales is regulated by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). They inspect and register home care services to make sure standards are met.
Where funding comes from
Apply through your local authority's social services department. Funding is means-tested by the local authority, with the Welsh Government setting a capital limit above which people fund their own care. What a council can charge for the care at home it arranges is capped at £100 a week (2026/27); privately arranged live-in care is paid separately.
How we fit in
Live-in Care Direct is an introductory agency. We introduce self-employed carers to families rather than employing them, so you contract directly with your carer and keep the choice of who provides your care.
Our carers
The people who would be caring for your family
Our carers are spread across the UK, supported by regional care managers. Every one is interviewed in person, enhanced DBS checked and reference-checked before they are ever introduced to a family — and you choose who moves in.
- Interviewed face to face, never hired on paperwork alone
- Enhanced DBS checked, with references verified

Often, yes. Your local council's adult social care team can carry out a free needs assessment and, depending on savings, may contribute to the cost. Where needs are mainly health-related, NHS Continuing Healthcare can pay in full. Attendance Allowance, paid to people over State Pension age who need help with personal care, is not means-tested and can be put towards care.

Yes. Carers move into the home rather than travelling from a local branch, so we cover Chepstow and the towns and villages around it, including Monmouth, Cwmbran, Newport and Abergavenny. Rural addresses are covered too, at the same weekly price.
