Live-in care from Deeside to the Clwydian Range
Flintshire runs along the Dee estuary from the English border near Chester, through the industrial towns of Deeside, to the market towns and hill villages below the Clwydian Range. Families searching for home care in Flintshire are supporting parents in Connah's Quay, Shotton, Queensferry and Saltney on Deeside, in Hawarden, Broughton and Buckley, in Mold, the county town, in Flint and Bagillt on the estuary, in Holywell, Greenfield and Mostyn, and in villages such as Caerwys and Cilcain. A carer who lives in lets your relative stay in the home they know.
We also arrange care in Wrexham, St Asaph, Rhyl, Denbighshire, Chester and Ellesmere Port.

Glan Clwyd, Wrexham Maelor or the Countess of Chester
Flintshire residents are treated at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd or Wrexham Maelor, run by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, while many on Deeside use the Countess of Chester over the border. Community hospitals in Mold, Holywell and Deeside provide rehabilitation and minor injuries care. A live-in carer in Flintshire can be ready for discharge from any of them.
Flintshire County Council and Welsh charging
Adult social care is provided by Flintshire County Council, based in Mold, which carries out free needs assessments and carer's assessments. In Wales there is a weekly limit on what councils can charge for care and support at home, worth checking once your relative is assessed. Chester, just over the border, is in England, where Cheshire West and Chester runs care under English rules, so check your relative's address.
Airbus, the steelworks and Moel Famau
Many older people in Flintshire worked at the Shotton steelworks, the aircraft factory at Broughton, the mills of Holywell or the pits of the old coalfield. Flint Castle, St Winefride's Well, Gladstone's Library at Hawarden, Loggerheads Country Park and the Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau are favourite outings. If your relative prefers Welsh, tell us when we match. You choose your carer from matched profiles before anything is agreed.

Funding & regulation
Paying for care in Wales
Home care is regulated and funded differently in each nation, so the route is not the same everywhere. Here is how it works where you live.
Read our full funding guide →Who regulates care here
Home care in Wales is regulated by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). They inspect and register home care services to make sure standards are met.
Where funding comes from
Apply through your local authority's social services department. Funding is means-tested by the local authority, with the Welsh Government setting a capital limit above which people fund their own care. What a council can charge for the care at home it arranges is capped at £100 a week (2026/27); privately arranged live-in care is paid separately.
How we fit in
Live-in Care Direct is an introductory agency. We introduce self-employed carers to families rather than employing them, so you contract directly with your carer and keep the choice of who provides your care.
Our carers
The people who would be caring for your family
Our carers are spread across the UK, supported by regional care managers. Every one is interviewed in person, enhanced DBS checked and reference-checked before they are ever introduced to a family — and you choose who moves in.
- Interviewed face to face, never hired on paperwork alone
- Enhanced DBS checked, with references verified

Often, yes. Your local council's adult social care team can carry out a free needs assessment and, depending on savings, may contribute to the cost. Where needs are mainly health-related, NHS Continuing Healthcare can pay in full. Attendance Allowance, paid to people over State Pension age who need help with personal care, is not means-tested and can be put towards care.
