Live-in care from the coast to the Dee valley
Denbighshire runs from the seaside towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn down the green Vale of Clwyd to the hill country around Ruthin, Corwen and Llangollen in the Dee valley. Families searching for home care in Denbighshire are supporting parents in Rhyl, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan on the coast, in St Asaph and Denbigh, in Ruthin and the villages of the Vale, and in Corwen, Llangollen and the upland farms beyond. In the hills, visiting care can be almost impossible to arrange. A live-in carer lives with your relative instead.
We also arrange care in Rhyl, St Asaph, Colwyn Bay, Flintshire, Wrexham and Llandudno.

Glan Clwyd and the community hospitals
Ysbyty Glan Clwyd at Bodelwyddan, run by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, provides emergency and specialist care for most of the county, with community hospitals such as those in Denbigh and Ruthin for rehabilitation, and Wrexham Maelor for the south. A live-in carer in Denbighshire can be ready for discharge from any of them.
Denbighshire County Council and Welsh charging
Adult social care is provided by Denbighshire County Council, based in Ruthin, which carries out free needs assessments and carer's assessments. In Wales there is a weekly limit on what councils can charge for care and support at home, worth checking once your relative is assessed. Care services are regulated by Care Inspectorate Wales.
The Vale, the canal and the Eisteddfod
The Llangollen canal and the International Eisteddfod, the castles at Denbigh and Rhuddlan, Ruthin's old square and the seafront at Rhyl and Prestatyn are favourite outings. Many older people here have farmed the Vale or the hills, or worked in the coastal resorts. If your relative prefers Welsh, tell us when we match. Couples can stay together with one carer supporting both. You choose your carer from matched profiles before anything is agreed.

Funding & regulation
Paying for care in Wales
Home care is regulated and funded differently in each nation, so the route is not the same everywhere. Here is how it works where you live.
Read our full funding guide →Who regulates care here
Home care in Wales is regulated by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). They inspect and register home care services to make sure standards are met.
Where funding comes from
Apply through your local authority's social services department. Funding is means-tested by the local authority, with the Welsh Government setting a capital limit above which people fund their own care. What a council can charge for the care at home it arranges is capped at £100 a week (2026/27); privately arranged live-in care is paid separately.
How we fit in
Live-in Care Direct is an introductory agency. We introduce self-employed carers to families rather than employing them, so you contract directly with your carer and keep the choice of who provides your care.
Our carers
The people who would be caring for your family
Our carers are spread across the UK, supported by regional care managers. Every one is interviewed in person, enhanced DBS checked and reference-checked before they are ever introduced to a family — and you choose who moves in.
- Interviewed face to face, never hired on paperwork alone
- Enhanced DBS checked, with references verified
- You meet and approve your carer before they start

Often, yes. Your local council's adult social care team can carry out a free needs assessment and, depending on savings, may contribute to the cost. Where needs are mainly health-related, NHS Continuing Healthcare can pay in full. Attendance Allowance, paid to people over State Pension age who need help with personal care, is not means-tested and can be put towards care.
