Home care from Blackrock to Ballincollig
Cork is Ireland's second city, built on islands in the River Lee, with steep hills on the northside and suburbs spreading out towards the harbour. Families searching for home care in Cork are supporting parents in Douglas, Blackrock and Ballintemple on the southside, in Bishopstown, Wilton and Ballincollig to the west, in Sunday's Well, Montenotte and Blackpool on the northside, and in Glanmire, Blarney, Carrigaline and Passage West just outside. Many northside homes sit on steep streets. A carer who lives in helps your relative stay safe and keep getting out.
We also arrange care in Midleton, Mallow, Bandon, Clonakilty, Youghal and Skibbereen.

Cork University Hospital and the Mercy
Cork University Hospital in Wilton is the region's main emergency and specialist hospital, with the Mercy University Hospital in the city centre and the South Infirmary Victoria providing further care, and Mallow and Bantry general hospitals serving the county. A live-in carer in Cork arranged in advance can help your relative come home as soon as they are medically ready.
HSE home support in Cork
In Ireland, home support is assessed and provided through the HSE rather than local councils, and the hours offered can fall well short of what someone needs. Some families combine HSE hours with private live-in care. The Nursing Homes Support Scheme, Fair Deal, helps with nursing home costs but not with care at home. Nursing homes are inspected by HIQA. We quote in euros, from €1,400 a week.
The English Market, Shandon and the harbour
For many older Corkonians, a good day means a walk in Fitzgerald's Park, a trip to the English Market, the bells of Shandon on a Sunday, or a drive down to Cobh or Crosshaven. Mass, the hurling and the local shop keep people connected. Many families have children abroad or in Dublin, so we agree how the carer keeps you updated. You choose your carer from matched profiles before anything is agreed.

Funding & regulation
Paying for care in Ireland
Home care is regulated and funded differently in each nation, so the route is not the same everywhere. Here is how it works where you live.
Read our full funding guide →Who regulates care here
Home care in Ireland is regulated by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). They inspect and register home care services to make sure standards are met.
Where funding comes from
Apply through the Health Service Executive (HSE). Home care support is arranged through the HSE, and residential care costs can be offset through the Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Fair Deal) — a distinct system from the UK, and costs are quoted in euro (EUR).
How we fit in
Live-in Care Direct is an introductory agency. We introduce self-employed carers to families rather than employing them, so you contract directly with your carer and keep the choice of who provides your care.

Can you arrange live-in care near Cork?
Yes. Carers move into the home rather than travelling from a local branch, so we cover Cork and the towns and villages around it, including Midleton, Bandon, Mallow and Clonakilty. Rural addresses are covered too, at the same weekly price.
