Live-in care between the mountains and the sea
East Wicklow runs from the coast between Greystones and Arklow up into the Wicklow Mountains, with Glendalough and the great valleys behind. Families searching for home care in Wicklow East are supporting parents in Wicklow town and Rathnew, in Ashford and Newtownmountkennedy, in Kilcoole and Newcastle along the coast, in Roundwood, Laragh and Rathdrum in the hills, and in the villages of the Vale of Avoca. Out in the mountain valleys, home support hours can be almost impossible to fill. A live-in carer lives with your relative instead.
We also arrange care in Greystones, Bray, Arklow, Gorey, Dublin and Carlow.

St Vincent's, St Columcille's or Wexford
East Wicklow residents are usually treated at St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin, with St Columcille's in Loughlinstown providing medical and rehabilitation beds, and some in the south going to Wexford General. A live-in carer in Wicklow East arranged in advance can help your relative come home as soon as they are medically ready, however far up the valley they live.
Home support in east Wicklow
Wicklow County Council has its offices in Wicklow town, but home support is arranged through the HSE, and in the mountain parishes there are often not enough carers to deliver the hours approved. A family carer may qualify for Carer's Allowance. Fair Deal pays towards nursing homes only. We quote private live-in care in euros, from €1,400 a week.
Glendalough, Mount Usher and the Murrough
The lakes and monastic city at Glendalough, the gardens at Mount Usher in Ashford, Wicklow Gaol, the Murrough walk and a drive over the Sally Gap are favourite outings. Many older people here have farmed the hills, worked in forestry or commuted to Dublin, and Mass and the GAA keep them connected. Families often have children abroad, so we agree how the carer keeps you updated. You choose your carer from matched profiles before anything is agreed.

Funding & regulation
Paying for care in Ireland
Home care is regulated and funded differently in each nation, so the route is not the same everywhere. Here is how it works where you live.
Read our full funding guide →Who regulates care here
Home care in Ireland is regulated by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). They inspect and register home care services to make sure standards are met.
Where funding comes from
Apply through the Health Service Executive (HSE). Home care support is arranged through the HSE, and residential care costs can be offset through the Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Fair Deal) — a distinct system from the UK, and costs are quoted in euro (EUR).
How we fit in
Live-in Care Direct is an introductory agency. We introduce self-employed carers to families rather than employing them, so you contract directly with your carer and keep the choice of who provides your care.
