Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the reasons:
  • When you hire a private carer, you have to do all of the background checks and screening on your own. After you hire the carer, you must supervise their every move, which is very challenging. At Live-in Care Direct, we follow a reliable and rigorous process to screen and interview carers to get the highest quality of care that you deserve.
  • When your private carer takes sick leave or simply leaves to handle a family emergency, you will need to take care of your loved one on your own or find a replacement which could take days or even weeks. When you use our agency, we always have a backup carer that will come immediately.
  • Our carers are young, enthusiastic, compassionate, and work under a specific care plan built by our experts. We also have a team of specialised supervisors who keep a check on the level of care that is being delivered.

Most importantly, we are there for the whole journey. When you hire our carers, you're hiring a whole team of individuals who care.

One of the reasons clients choose us as their trusted elder care agency in UK is our ability to assign caregivers that perfectly match the needs of clients. We meet clients and their loved ones and assess their requirements. Our Care Manager will thoroughly understand the level of care needed and along with the care team, brainstorm on which carer would be the best fit. Although our matchmaking skills are 100% correct, but if the client wants to switch to another caregiver for any reason, we proceed with that.

Live-in home care is one of the safest and most secure options available in the market for your elderly loved one when you cannot provide the level of care needed. Live-in Care Direct focuses on keeping our clients as safe and shielded as possible while experiencing the highest quality of life from being in the comfort of your house.

Our live-in home care for elders includes assistance with:
  • Bathing, grooming & dressing
  • Personal care needs
  • Cooking/ meal preparation
  • Medication management
  • Bathroom assistance
  • Grocery shopping
  • Washing, drying & folding laundry
  • Cleaning & mopping rooms, kitchens, lobby & bathrooms
  • Companionship care
  • Transit to or from the hospital appointments
  • Terminal illnesses care like Dementia, stroke, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Cancer, and more.
As we are an introductory agency, we are not permitted to train our carers, however we only work with carers that have had at least two years of professional care experience. All of our carers go through a strict vetting process.
This is completely down to your loved one's situation. You can get the majority of equipment completely free of charge through your local authority: Click Here
Yes, our minimum period is two weeks.
Yes, you could qualify for partial or full funding from your local council. To do this you would need to speak to social services in your area: Click Here. You will be asked to complete a care needs assessment form to find out if you're eligible. If your loved one has less than £23,250 in the bank then you should be entitled to funding. You will not qualify if the amount exceeds £23,250, however the good news is that they do not take the property value into account.
Yes, we can arrange either a video call so that you can see the carer, or a telephone call, once you are happy with their profile.
Our carers will work a minimum of three to four weeks on at one time before taking one week's break. During the carers break, we will arrange another carer to cover, until the original carer returns.
We will be able to provide you with a full-time live-in carer within 48 hours.
All we ask is that our carers have their own bedroom in the house with clean sheets and towels.

Evaluating Needs for Live-In Care

Assessing Your Needs for Live-In Care

Before deciding on live-in care, it's important to evaluate your needs and determine whether it's the right choice for you. Here are some factors to consider:

Physical Needs
Physical needs are an important consideration when it comes to live-in care. You should evaluate your mobility, ability to perform daily activities, and any medical conditions that require regular attention. If you have difficulty moving around, require assistance with bathing or dressing, or have a medical condition that requires monitoring, live-in care may be a good option.

Emotional Needs
Emotional needs are also important when it comes to evaluating your need for live-in care. Seniors who live alone may feel lonely or isolated, which can lead to depression and other mental health issues. A live-in caregiver can provide companionship, social interaction, and emotional support, which can be essential for seniors who are struggling with feelings of isolation.

Safety Needs
Safety needs are another important factor to consider when it comes to live-in care. If you have mobility issues or suffer from medical conditions that put you at risk of falling, a live-in caregiver can provide the necessary assistance to ensure your safety. They can also help to prevent accidents and ensure that you are taking your medication as prescribed.

Financial Needs
Finally, it's important to consider your financial situation when evaluating your need for live-in care. Live-in care can be expensive, and it's important to ensure that you can afford it before making a decision. You should consider your income, savings, and any other sources of financial support that may be available to you.

Benefits of Live-In Care

Live-in care has several benefits over other forms of elderly care. Here are some of the key advantages:

Comfort of Home
One of the primary benefits of live-in care is that seniors can continue living in the comfort of their own homes. This can be particularly beneficial for those who have lived in their homes for many years and have a strong attachment to their surroundings.

One-on-One Attention
Live-in caregivers provide one-on-one attention, which can be essential for seniors who require assistance with daily activities or have medical conditions that require monitoring. This level of attention is difficult to achieve in a nursing home or assisted living facility.

Flexibility
Live-in care provides flexibility, allowing seniors to maintain their independence while receiving the care they need. Caregivers can adapt to the senior's schedule and preferences, providing personalized care that meets their specific needs.

Companionship
Live-in caregivers provide companionship and emotional support, which can be essential for seniors who are struggling with feelings of isolation. This can help to improve their overall quality of life and prevent mental health issues such as depression.

Conclusion

Live-in care is a popular form of elderly care that provides seniors with the assistance they need to maintain their independence while living in the comfort of their own homes. If you are considering live-in care for yourself or a loved one, it's important to evaluate your needs and determine whether it's the right choice. By considering factors such as physical needs, emotional needs, safety needs, and financial needs, you can make an informed decision and ensure that you receive the care and support you need.
